"The team has had an absolutely amazing season thus far," said head coach Justin Neese. We have done a tremendous amount of work to build up our mentality, to establish the main tenants of our team culture, to define who we are and what we are all about, and I think that all of our players have done an amazing job so far this year."
Sophomore Caitlin McGeehan and senior Melissa Taylor have already received SCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the week honors, respectively, so far this year, but it has certainly been a group effort that has resulted in so much success early on.
"We've asked a tremendous amount from our players; we've asked them to rise above a lot of adversity and issues, and they have come through it all with flying colors," said Neese. "I'm really proud to have the opportunity to work with each and every one of them."
While its record may not be as stellar as the women's soccer team, the first-year Hendrix field hockey team is making leaps and bounds in a season not measured by wins and losses.
"I'm thrilled at our team's performance for a first-year program," said head coach Ellie Karvoski. "Our skill, resilience, and team pride has enabled us to be competitive in every game we play. We've taken amazing steps each game to continue to achieve our goals. I'm excited to watch the impact we will make in the second half of our season."
Though the team is currently winless at 0-7 (0-3 SCAC), it has lost both of its last two games by 1-0 scores, they are showing indications of a potentially strong second half. In addition, freshman goalkeeper Alyssa Havens was recently named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, and is on pace to set several single-season SCAC save records.
Also, freshman defender Taylor LaFortune recorded the honor of scoring the first goal in team history, with a tally against Ohio Wesleyan University. The team has two conference matches this weekend against Centre College and Sewanee.
The men's soccer team has not had as much success as its female counterpart, but has nevertheless put together a strong season so far, standing at 2-8 (0-4 SCAC).
"The team has been battling hard, playing some very good soccer, and at times dominating several aspects of games," said head coach Glen Tourville. "Unfortunately the present record doesn't indicate the quality of the team and their commitment to excellence."

Women team showed amazing performance that time. I was really amazed the way team emerged inspite of the previous failure. If you are mentally strong, you can win any game
