Editor Tells All
Rainey Gibson
Issue date: 10/5/07 Section: Editorial
It is finally here. The highly anticipated Profile is finally here, kind of. While you have yet to see the Profile in all its printed, delicious glory, it will be here soon.
After running in to a few managerial and staffing issues, we're finally up and running, fret not. With a brand new staff and two new editors, we have set ourselves up to bring you the absolute best news we can possibly find (or make up). After meetings and meetings and meetings, the Profile has decided to get a facelift. Our lovely newspaper has looked the same since before most of us were born. Now seems like a good time to update some things, or everything.
We're not just randomly changing things about the paper, however. We are actually in the process of researching newspapers at schools in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the Associated Colleges of the South to get design and content ideas. We're also much appreciative of any ideas that you (yes, you) would like to submit.
Do not be alarmed when you read this next statement: we are considering having a magazine type newspaper. This does not mean a glossy, Cosmo style magazine. We're simply thinking of writing more feature articles about students on campus and what they're up to. We're tired of writing construction stories over and over again when students can clearly see the progress that is being made. While covering the news you need to know, we should also focus on student hobbies and activities like Ross Murphy's band, Sarah Ervin's retro clothing store and Xochitl Garcia's haircutting business.
The new, revamped Profile will be coming out in print on Nov. 30, so be sure to submit any ideas or thoughts you might have before then. Tell us what you want to see and we'll try to make it happen.
