RS: How have freshmen/new players helped the team?
TM: Tremendously. As I mentioned before, freshman Russ Schultz finished third at our last outing and has been one of our top three scorers all season long. Our top scorer on the Men's side is Sherwood at number one, but then you have freshman Chris Lemley at number two, Schultz at number three, and freshman Mike Kempton at number four. On the Women's side, we are led by sophomore Becca Mayeux, freshman Wyvonne Hawkins, and freshman Courtney Taylor. So to answer your question, all of my new/freshman players have been absolutely huge to our success this season.
RS: What do you think is the biggest challenge the team will face this year in the conference tournament?
TM: The biggest challenge will be competing with the top teams in our league. The SCAC has three Top 10 teams in the country on both the Men's and Women's sides. While I do not expect us to beat these teams, I do hope that our guys and girls push them a little and let them know that Hendrix has gotten better and will be a team to contend with from now on. On and individual note, Sherwood finished in a tie for 11th place last year and is hoping to finish somewhere in the Top 10 to make the All-Conference team. He was however, the top freshman finisher on the male side last season.
