Woerner said in an email that she also presented new ideas for Senate during her campaign and mentioned her plans for an "Out-to-Lunch with Senate" program and a speaker board.
But she emphasized that she prefers not to dwell on the reasons for her loss.
"I do not really want to speculate as to why I did not win," Woerner said in an email. "But, I do wish Amy luck with Senate this year."
Hillard was Raney Hall senator this year, and unlike most of the rest of the 2003-2004 Senate, she will not have a break from the weekly meetings presumably until her term ends this time next year.
The new Senate voted unanimously Tuesday to approve each member of her cabinet, which includes junior Tom Faitak as secretary, sophomore Megan Faulk as presidential assistant and sophomore Garrett Sprowls as treasurer. Tuesday's night meeting was Hillard's first as president.
A document first introduced to Senate by sophomore Brad Howard and junior Vanessa Young, both former at-large senators, the Special Rules of Order, was also approved unanimously. The document outlines basic procedure for Senate meetings.
The other members of Senate elected were Howard as vice president, sophomore Steven Duerringer as Academic Policy representative, freshman Donald Turner as sophomore class senator, sophomore Andrea Newsome as junior class senator, and junior Robert Arnold as senior class senator.
Representing the living units on the new Senate are freshman Mary Thigpen as Galloway Hall senator, freshman Jessie Wood as Raney Hall senator, freshman Lizzy Price as Veasey Hall senator, sophomore Ethan Moore as Couch Hall senator, sophomore Daniel Feild as Martin Hall senator, sophomore Josh Blevins as Hardin Hall senator, junior Jessica McNeil as houses senator, junior Andee Cooper as apartments senator and junior Jennifer Horton as off-campus senator.
