Chess players en passant: Hendrix hosts tournament

The checks in Fausett hall this weekend will not be cashed, though the chess players who will be there this weekend might rather have checkmate than tuition refund checks.
The Arkansas Scholastic Chess Association is sponsoring the State Scholastic Chess Championships there tomorrow.
The tournament will draw players from every part of the state, all competing for national rating points. Tomorrow's tournament determines the high school, junior high and elementary school state champions, with the high school champion eligible to represent the state at the national tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in Aug. 2004.
