The overcast skies that hung over Hendrix's soccer field last Sunday proved quite fitting for the women's 3-0 loss against Texas Lutheran. The skies, if not something else, had sucked the energy from the Warriors, and though the sun made its way to the field by the second half, it was the Texas Lutheran offense that soaked it up.

Hendrix played Texas Lutheran (3-2-1) tight throughout the first half and into the second before the Bulldogs began pulling away.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mindy Eggert saw her streak of 325 minutes without allowing a goal snapped when Lutheran's Casey Rheman floated a ball over Eggert's head in the 55th minute. Rheman caught Eggert creeping forward off the line and chipped a shot just out of reach of Eggert's fingertips.

Hendrix's defense held for a while longer until the 72nd minute when Texas Lutheran's Megan Willis slipped one by Eggert. Rheman then followed suit three minutes later to score her second of the game.

Disparity between the teams last Sunday goes beyond the stats. Though each team managed the ball well, the Bulldogs made the connection between the midfield and forwards. Texas Lutheran managed to test Eggert with 8 shots on goal, while Hendrix put only one shot on net.

"Some days you have it and some days you don't," said Jessie Miller, team captain and junior. "Sunday we just didn't have it."

Throughout the game neither side seemed to gain an advantage over the other. The play stayed predominatly in the midfield, where each team would control, though not dominate, any stretch of the game.

"3-0 normally means you got stomped, but it didn't feel that way," Miller said.

The number of goals the Warriors scored was about face from the Warriors prior three performances. During that three-game stretch, Hendrix outscored their opponents 10-0. Only Texas Lutheran and the University of Central Arkansas have scored on Hendrix, but they've done so 10-0.

"Besides UCA, they are the best team we've played so far this year," Miller said about Texas Lutheran.

The UCA game was the first of the season for the Warriors. Hendrix lost 7-0 that game before running off a string of three straight shutouts.

The Warriors will not be back in action until Friday when they open their conference schedule against Rose-Hulman here at Hendrix.
