Lashmett letter problematic

I am writing to reply to Jill Lashmett's recent letter in the last edition of The Profile. I have been disappointed in a lot of the student reaction to the letter, and I feel that the letter merits an appropriate response not based in anger. I have never lived in Martin Hall; therefore, I do not feel targeted by the letter and can offer an unbiased response.
Personally, I found the letter to be both completely illogical and lacking in another very important aspect...truth. These flaws in the letter can easily be seen. Jill, you told how using a word to keep women down is wrong, then proceeded to make broad generalizations about a whole group of people based on an infinitesimally small piece of evidence. I counted votes at the Senate election, and I know for a fact that the female expletive you refer to in your letter appeared less than 5 times. I don't feel that the opinions of less than 5 people are grounds to extrapolate their views to include more than 100 people. Also, I think it has to be pointed out that Jill doesn't even know who wrote the insensitive comments to which she referred. What proof is there that "Martin Men" wrote these comments? I know some of the people who wrote some of the cruel comments in the election. Out of six people, one lived in Martin; some were even women themselves.
The comments placed in the ballot box were both cruel and insensitive; however, they do not prove that an entire residence hall is filled with cruel, insensitive people who deserve to have their house torn down.
