Students who are tired of receiving unwanted magazines don't have to suffer any longer thanks to the Environmental Concerns Committee (ECC). Those seeking an uncluttered student mailbox can simply throw those pesky periodicals in the cardboard box conveniently located left of the recycling unit in the mailroom. Passers by who are enticed by any of the magazines they may find are more than welcome to take them for their own use provided they rip off the page with the mailing address on it and leave it in the box.
In addition, ECC has solutions for clubs, committees, or organizations trying to save money on paper and plastic dishes for events. More than 300 sets of plates, cups, silverware, and bowls are available for free use by any group that sign a dish release form. When planning an event, simply check the appropriate box on the Master Calendar indicating that dishes will be needed and make note in the comment box of the number dish set desired. Those planning events that are already on the Master Calendar can email Senior Marjorie Antich at antichma@mercury.hendrix.edu, and ECC will quickly respond.
Both the magazine box and the free dishes are easy ways to be environmentally friendly while on a college campus. Information on these and other environmentally conscious programs can be obtained by attending regular ECC meetings, held every Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. in DW Reynolds room 11.
