The glow on sophomore Amy Hillard's face was apparent to everybody in the Mills Library March 9 when Dane Charles, former Election Commissioner and junior, announced her election as Student Senate president.

Jacobson wins prestigious Watson fellowship
Senior Sarah Jacobson was awarded a $22,000 Thomas J. Watson Fellowship Grant for a year of self-designed independent study and travel outside the United States after she graduates in May.
Jacobson, a Spanish and Classics double major, is the 22nd Hendrix student to win a Watson Fellowship since 1985.…

Faculty removes embarrassment clause from Code of Conduct
If recently approved changes to the Hendrix Code of Conduct had been in place before last year's Profane was produced, some students who were responsible for the April Fools' Day spoof publication might not have had to appear before Judicial Council.
According to some Hendrix officials, the most significant change to the code, which is printed in the Facefinder, is the removal from its second bullet the concept of embarrassment from the list of types of conduct that the community won't tolerate.…

Methodist Bishop to deliver commencement address
Bishop Janice Riggle Huie, who has served as Bishop for the Arkansas Area of the United Methodist Church (UMC) since 1996, will deliver this year's commencement address to the graduating Class of 2004, on May 15.

Committee offers suggestions for improving student life
The Committee on Improving Student Life, or COISL, issued its final report last Tuesday and presented the document to the new Senate.
